Millions Of Years?

The teaching of evolution and millions of years has been taught in classrooms for many years. But should this be questioned? I am a Christian. I love God and his Son with all my heart and all my soul. But just because I believe, no, because I know there is a higher power, doesn't mean I can't prove that my God isn't real  through the science taught in science class today.
Recently my teacher has been discussing the theory of millions of years. I want to post why it is wrong.
The Earth is roughly 6,000 years old. Not 6,000,000. Why?

1) The Bible says that the Earth was created in six literal days.
The Hebrew word for day in Genesis 1 is yom, used with "evening" and morning. Thus light/dark. A 24 hour day. That word is not just mentioned in there. All through out the old testament the word is used for a 24 hour day, and the Bible clearly says when it not.

2) The genealogies of Genesis 5 and 11 clearly show 6,000 years
The genealogies of those chapters give very detailed descriptions of the family lines of Adam. It could only take place in 6,000 years.

3) Exodus 20:9-11 disproves all attempts to fit "millions of years"
" Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to theLord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."

This passage gives reason as to why God commanded the Israelites to work six days and rest on the seventh. The word yom is used again when God tells the Israelites "days"  just like in Genesis 1. In Genesis 1, God could have used the three Hebrew words for an indefenite amount of time. He chose only the word that meant a literal "day"

These are just some of the things that prove the idea of millions of years wrong. Questions, comments? post them here!

A Sample

Here is a sample from a book I am writing, called Mala's Fury. Feel free to leave comments!!

Prologue

On a cold misty night, the trees of the valley loomed high above the young man’s head. To him, every step seemed closer to pain, every step closer to misery and every step, closer to rebirth and a new life.

The young man eventually made it to the clearing in which he would find out whether the story,
his story,
her story,
their story,
would live or die.
“Vetus, I had rather hoped you would come,” said a cold, icy voice.
“Aema! it’s not to late to right the wrongs you have done! turn back before the Tenebrae consumes you!” shouted Vetus.
“My name is not Aema any more! my name is... MALA!” she screeched.
Mala stood at the top of a low hill. Her black, torn, dress fluttering in the wind. Vetus still could not believe this was the women he thought he knew so well. Her hair, which used to be chocolate brown, was a greasy black, her face was unnaturally young looking.
With her fury, Mala produced a storm out of nowhere, sending an electric bolt of blue fire at Vetus, sending him flying backward, shaking every atom of his body.
“This is the power! which one dares matches the Tenebrae?!” Mala screamed at the top of her voice.
Verus, unable to get up, said weakly, “please stop before you cause to much pain, before you cause me to much pain.”
This last comment made Mala melt for a moment. Black eyes turning to a brilliant sky blue. For that moment, Vetus thought, that somehow, things could be different, that somehow, maybe the prophecy was wrong, and that they could be together again, and live the rest of their lives together.
But, it was not to be, for in the next instant, Mala’s eyes turned back to there hidious black. Mala screeched with laughter as a great black blanket enveloped her.
“You will see fool! you will pay for every second you ever loved me!” and with that she was gone. The forest became silent, as if relived to be gone of her presence. yet, unsure if she would soon be back. Vetus was silent too. Silent as he got up, went to the town in which he was staying in and went to his room at the local inn. A small cry erupted from the bed, breaking the silence. Vetus went to the bed and look
ed down. A fretful, tiny baby, not even named yet lay there. she looked exactly like her mother before, before...
Her brown, chocolate hair was soft, and her sky blue eyes looked like a summer afternoon sky. Suddenly, Vetus knew what her name would be. Trillain Moore. Trillian. Trill.

Fun Facts About Cheetahs

I think it is time to pay tribute to the mascot of this blog... The Cheetah! (My favorite animal!!)
Fun Facts!
1) Cheetahs can run up to 70 miles per hour! That's about as fast as a car!
2) Cheetahs use their tails to steer, sounds strange, but  think about a boat rudder.
3) Cheetahs are the only big cats that can purr. But they can't roar like other big cats.
4) Cheetahs are the only cats that can't retract their claws. Why? To hunt, cheetahs rely on speed, and their claws are used as grippers so they don't slip.
5) Cheetahs cannot climb trees and have poor night vision.
6) Cheetahs only need to drink once every three or four days!
7) They are the smallest big cat, weighing in at about 45 pounds.
8) Cheetahs can reach top speed in three seconds!
9) Male cheetahs stay in groups, females roam alone.
10) Cheetahs live 10-12 years
11) Cheetahs are not very strong, so to kill their prey, they suffocate it until it dies.
12) The average is about 2-5 cubs
13) Long ago, about 3000 b.c, man trained cheetahs to help them hunt.
14) Sadly, the cheetah is on the endangered species list. The reason? Decline of prey, loss of habitat, poaching, and their cubs are so fragile.

Oh Brother! Oh Sister!

     "Get out of my room!"
"Mom! Sam shot his Nerf gun at me again!"
     "Mom,"
     "Mom!"
     "Mom!!"

Sound familiar?  If you have a sibling, you know what it's like to argue.  Small things, big things and medium sized quarrels are all part of having a sibling, right?

Well, maybe.  I think not though.  See, God told us that we should love each-other, just like he loves us.  "Love your neighbor as yourself."  That age old golden rule. Did you know Jesus said it first?
It's in Mark 12:30-31.  That doesn't just mean your literal neighbor or the people you pass by on the street. It means your brother and your sister too.

But life still happens.  There will always be those moments of "Uh oh."  After all, we are human.  So, when these moments do happen, here are some tips on what to do after the "Uh oh."

  1. You're probably very angry, so after the Nerf gun in the nose, go to your room and cool off.
  2. Take deep breaths.  In through your nose and out through your mouth.
  3. Apologize, even if you didn't start it.  If you have younger siblings, this sets a good example.

Now here's how to prevent these moments:

  1. When you find yourself getting angry, go to another room.  Sometimes I get annoyed by my sister, Cara, and I need to just take a breather.  Its not rude, its preventing a fight.
  2. I get angry when I'm not patient with my sister.  So I do the deep breaths thing (As I mentioned above).  It really does help.

Remember... no matter how close, friends can come and go, but you are a sister forever.  Don't sacrifice that.
   Ever.

                                                 Peace Out!
                                                          Emily :)
