"Mom! Sam shot his Nerf gun at me again!"
"Mom,"
"Mom!"
"Mom!!"
Sound familiar? If you have a sibling, you know what it's like to argue. Small things, big things and medium sized quarrels are all part of having a sibling, right?
Well, maybe. I think not though. See, God told us that we should love each-other, just like he loves us. "Love your neighbor as yourself." That age old golden rule. Did you know Jesus said it first?
It's in Mark 12:30-31. That doesn't just mean your literal neighbor or the people you pass by on the street. It means your brother and your sister too.
But life still happens. There will always be those moments of "Uh oh." After all, we are human. So, when these moments do happen, here are some tips on what to do after the "Uh oh."
- You're probably very angry, so after the Nerf gun in the nose, go to your room and cool off.
- Take deep breaths. In through your nose and out through your mouth.
- Apologize, even if you didn't start it. If you have younger siblings, this sets a good example.
Now here's how to prevent these moments:
- When you find yourself getting angry, go to another room. Sometimes I get annoyed by my sister, Cara, and I need to just take a breather. Its not rude, its preventing a fight.
- I get angry when I'm not patient with my sister. So I do the deep breaths thing (As I mentioned above). It really does help.
Remember... no matter how close, friends can come and go, but you are a sister forever. Don't sacrifice that.
Peace Out!
Emily :)
